Juicy smoothie bag with gluten-free muesli

Crunchy muesli on a silky smoothie is like the cherry on the cake, just so-so good! Slightly cinnamon-y and just the right amount of crunch, as a proper muesli should be. But with no added sugar and a pure formula that’s good for your body! The smoothie bowl is quick to prepare and if you’re one of those people who like fat-free mornings, this bowl is perfect for a quick lunch instead of breakfast or a refreshing evening snack. It will take:

for smoothies:

  • 250g frozen wild blueberries
  • handful of mango cubes (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 ripe banana (fresh or frozen)
  • about 60-80 ml water or unsweetened almond milk (if you want a more liquid texture, add more liquid as needed).

How to make a smoothie bowl?

to make muesli:

  • Heat the pan and add the oat flakes to the hot pan with the coconut oil, cinnamon and maple syrup. Roast the flakes over low heat, stirring constantly, until they turn golden brown (this takes about 5-10 minutes). Then add the salt and stir in the coconut flakes. Put the muesli in a bowl to cool. Note that the muesli has a softer texture when hot, but gets nice and crispy when it cools down!

    If you like, you can also roast the muesli in the oven by mixing all the ingredients together, placing on a baking tray covered with baking paper and roasting in a 150-160 degree oven for about 25-30 minutes.

to make smoothies:

  • Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend into a smooth smoothie.

Make sure you start by making the muesli, so it has time to cool down before serving. You can also make the muesli ahead of time if you like. When the muesli is ready, blend together the smoothie. When the smoothie has reached the texture you like, pour it into a bowl and top with crispy muesli. Decorate with anything you like (fresh berries and coconut, for example) and enjoy immediately!
